About Ella
Ella LaFleur is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Salmon Arm, BC, supporting children, youth, adults, and families through anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, school challenges, parenting concerns, relationship stress, and life transitions.
Her counselling style is warm, practical, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a focus on helping clients feel understood, respected, and supported as they move toward meaningful change.
A warm, practical approach to counselling
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially when you or your child are already feeling overwhelmed. Ella’s goal is to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to explore difficult experiences, and respected enough to move at their own pace.
Ella works with clients from a place of empathy, dignity, and collaboration. She believes counselling should not feel like judgment or pressure. Instead, it should feel like a steady place to better understand what is happening, build practical tools, and reconnect with your own strengths, values, and sense of direction.
Whether she is supporting a child with emotional regulation, a youth navigating anxiety or school stress, an adult working through trauma or grief, or a family facing change, Ella’s approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and respect for each person’s lived experience.
What counselling with Ella can feel like
Clients can expect Ella to be present, attentive, and supportive. Her approach is not about telling people what to do or pushing them faster than they are ready to go. It is about creating a space where clients can feel heard, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and build tools that fit their life.
Ella’s work is informed by evidence-based and expressive approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy.
“Counselling should feel respectful, collaborative, and grounded in what matters most to you.”

Education, counselling, and mental health
Before becoming a counsellor, Ella spent more than 10 years working in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary education systems across Alberta and British Columbia. This experience continues to shape her counselling work, especially with children, youth, parents, and families.
Her background helps her understand how emotional well-being can affect learning, behaviour, relationships, family life, and day-to-day functioning. She brings this perspective into counselling by supporting clients with both compassion and practical strategies.
Ella holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia.
